The dome

Real liquid light: oils, dyes and water on glass, hand-mixed the 1967 ballroom way by Road Flare Visuals (David and Anamarie Godgluck of Nashotah) and filmed for the dome.

Woven through it: generative psychedelic visuals.

The soundtrack

In 1969, Zoe Eckblad was hired as the first professional female disc jockey in the Sacramento radio market, at free-form KZAP. She selected this soundtrack, recorded from vinyl:

  • Pink Floyd, “Time”
  • Led Zeppelin, “Kashmir”
  • Jimi Hendrix, “Third Stone from the Sun”
  • Grateful Dead, “Dark Star” (Fillmore West, 1969)
  • Jefferson Airplane, “Fat Angel” (live recording)
  • …plus the Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, ELP, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Country Joe & the Fish, H.P. Lovecraft, Mike Oldfield and Jean-Michel Jarre.
An audience reclined in the dark beneath a dome lit with green and violet projection

Good to know

How long is it?

About an hour. Doors open 20 minutes before each show. Follow the lights from the pasture entrance.

Is it a planetarium show?

It’s built like one: you recline under a dome and the whole sky is the screen. But it isn’t astronomy. It’s a light show set to late-’60s and ’70s psychedelic rock, with liquid light, generative visuals, live lasers through haze, and sound that moves around and over you.

Is it live? Is there a DJ or a band in the dome?

No DJ and no band in the dome, and we’d rather tell you now. The visuals on the dome and the vinyl soundtrack are recorded. The lasers, haze, ambisonic sound, scent, wind and bubbles are live in the room. Would You Kindly? plays the Jackass Saloon 7–10 PM, no cover.

Can I bring kids?

Yes. 6 PM is the family-friendly show. It uses theatrical haze and lasers.

I’m sensitive to light, haze or scent.

The show uses theatrical haze, lasers, scent and fast-moving psychedelic visuals. If you have photosensitive epilepsy, asthma or a fragrance sensitivity, check with your doctor before you come.

What should I wear?

Bring a layer: the walk from the parking area is outside.

Seats and access

All 69 seats are recliners. If you need help getting into the dome or the seats, contact us before Saturday at contact@lumiadome.com or through our contact page.

What does it cost?

Tickets are $33 plus Wisconsin sales tax and a 3% card fee (about $35.86 total).

Where is it?

Jennings Holler, W379 S9674 County Rd S, Eagle, WI 53119 (Google Maps). About 45 minutes from Milwaukee.
